Gemma Wallace has been a registered conveyancing practitioner in South Australia since 2003.
Beginning her career with Nicholls Gervasi Lawyers and Johnston Withers Lawyers, Gemma went on to open her own successful practice in 2009. Gemma extended her practice into the Property Law Industry in her more recent roles as South Australian Business Development Manager for Stewart Title and as a Consultant on projects for organisations within the sector including ID Secure, Australian Institute of Conveyancers and TAFE SA. In 2016 Gemma became a recognised PEXA work space trainer leading the state with her practical knowledge of the e-conveyancing platform and technical ability to deliver the PEXA training in South Australia. In 2018 Gemma was invited to take part in the state government Water Register Reform Round table and continues to be involved in industry discussions on education and reformation within the conveyancing industry.
Due to her vast industry experience and knowledge Gemma is sought after to facilitate large scale local government easement projects, commercial & business settlements, family farming transfers, Department of Environment & Water and Crown licence transfers, commercial and residential community title projects and more obscure applications under the Real Property Act.
Gemma moved to Murray Bridge to take on the role as Johnston Withers Murray Bridge Practice Manager in 2016. She oversees the Conveyancing practice as a senior member of the commercial team.
Gemma’s favourite thing about Murray Bridge is that the town has a country feel with the beautiful Murray River at the doorstep yet it is a very easy commute to Adelaide. She also enjoys the people – Murraylands people are the salt of the earth; clever, resilient and progressive. She thoroughly enjoys being part of the vibrant community.
Over the past few years, Gemma has found the work in Murray Bridge rewarding. She’s been involved in many interesting historical water rights issues and complex rural and farming acquisitions which have been interesting to facilitate. Commercial transactions that would rival any large Adelaide deal are a regular occurrence and she finds being part of a team that provides a down to earth, all encompassing, legal service to a diverse range of Murraylands clients rewarding on a daily basis.
Nic heads up the firm’s criminal law practice and is widely regarded as one of the state’s best criminal defence solicitors – with a focus on serious crime and white collar offences. Nic’s other areas of practice are family law, litigation and employment law.
Prior to practicing law, Nic worked for 5 years in the finance industry, giving him a strong grasp of financial issues. He also has a specialist expertise in the law as it affects rural families – including issues as diverse as planning for farm succession, asset protection during farming family breakdowns, and litigation involving defective machinery. Nic represents clients in workplace disputes involving internal investigations and in court. He appears for client before professional disciplinary tribunals. He also has significant experience in inquests and enquiries.
Caitlin is a long-time member of Johnston Withers Lawyers, commencing work as a law clerk in 2011 and then continuing on as a solicitor after her admission in 2016.
Caitlin is a member of the commercial law team and wills and estates team, assisting clients with a broad range of transactional and commercial litigation matters. Caitlin has a particular interest in Estate planning and disputes, Defamation (social media claims) and regularly appears in the Magistrates, District and Supreme Courts.
Caitlin prides herself in being able to simplify complex legal ideas and effectively manage and reduce client’s stress.
Like many of Johnston Withers Lawyers staff, Caitlin hails from the country and loves regularly goes back to visit family in Jamestown. Outside of work Caitlin has a strong passion for gardening (spending hours in her veggie patch) and visiting friends and family in the country or at the beach.
Anthony has degrees in both Law and Commerce, together with a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice. Anthony has transitioned through Johnston Withers Lawyers, firstly as a PLT student, then as a clerk and has now commenced practicing as a junior lawyer in 2019.
Anthony has primarily worked in the personal injury team, gaining experience in Workers Compensation claims, Compulsory Third Party Motor Vehicle Accident claims and Public Liability claims. In 2019 Anthony will experience our Murray Bridge office, handling a variety of criminal law and family law matters.
Anthony values his relationships with his clients as a paramount. He aims to build a relationship of trust and confidence while being committed to getting the best result for his clients.
Jit Sheng Khor
Jit started his legal career in Malaysia in 2007. He was made a Partner in 2009 and established his own law firm in 2015. In Malaysia, Jit primarily practised in the area of criminal law including capital punishment offences, drug offences, penal code offences, white collar offences, and copyright infringements. His other areas of practice included litigation and family law. He has conducted full trials and handled matters up to the Appellate Courts in Malaysia.
Jit joins our team in 2021 and will be involved mainly in the areas of criminal law, family law and litigation. He will also be assisting our Murray Bridge office handling a variety of matters. Jit believes in providing honest legal advice and the best practical solutions to a client. Jit is also fluent in Bahasa Melayu (Malay language), Chinese (Hokkien dialect) and has basic fluency of Chinese (Mandarin, Cantonese) and Bahasa Indonesia.
Fiona Woolfitt, Registered Conveyancer joined our team in August 2016. Fiona is bright, friendly and warm, and ready to assist you in all your Conveyancing needs.
Growing up in the Murray Mallee region, Fiona and her young family returned from Quorn to the family farm near Peake.
Fiona loves the sense of community and everything country life has to offer, including a first-hand understanding of the farming industry and the complexity of farming property transactions.
In addition to being an experienced Registered Conveyancer, Fiona is skilled in many other fields related to the property industry. Fiona has worked as a Para-Legal and, more recently, as a Valuer for the state government. Fiona utilises her knowledge to work closely with her clients and provides an exceptional level of service.
Erin has worked for Johnston Withers Lawyers Murray Bridge office since 2014.
She enjoys the fast pace of the Conveyancing environment and has embraced and consistently delivered on the firms philosophy of delivering exceptional customer service.
Based on the Murray River, Erin loves that there are so many great spots to take a walk or have a picnic in Murray Bridge. While expanding, Erin enjoys the country town vibe and being only 45 minutes from Adelaide.
