Wine law – in NZ and Australia

 In Agricultural Law

Katherine Vincent, from our Clare office, recently attended the annual International Wine Lawyers Association (IWLA) conference for the Australasian Chapter.

The conference took place in Blenheim in the spectacular Marlborough region of New Zealand, where Katherine greatly enjoyed learning about the local approach to wine making – and in particular, noting how some of those trends were starting to infiltrate the Clare Valley.

Topical matters discussed at the conference included a thorough overview of current public health policy implications for the wine industry – particularly the export market, given recent challenges with the new labelling requirements – and liquor licencing laws.

Katherine has joined the committee to organise the 2016 IWLA Conference, this time in the Adelaide Hills later this year.

Please contact Katherine if you would like any information on the recent and upcoming conferences, or on wine law issues generally.
